You recorded one video and lost an hour posting it four times
You recorded the video in the car after a closing. Eleven minutes, one take, good enough. Then you opened Facebook and uploaded it. Then Instagram, and re-typed the caption because you did not copy it. Then TikTok, which wanted a different aspect ratio. Then LinkedIn, where you wrote a slightly more serious version of the same sentence because LinkedIn makes everyone talk like that. An hour. On a video that took eleven minutes. And that hour is why the next one never gets recorded. Not the filming. Nobody quits because filming is hard. They quit because posting is four separate chores wearing one word. ## What the hour is actually made of Break it down and almost none of it is thinking: - Logging into four accounts, one of which wants a code from your phone. - Re-typing the same caption four times, slightly differently each time. - Waiting for four uploads of the same file. - Deciding, at the fourth one, that LinkedIn can wait until tomorrow. It cannot, and it does not happen. The only part with judgement in it is the caption, and you write that once. The rest is file-moving. ## Post it once, to all of them Every scheduler worth using does the same three things, and if yours does not, it is the wrong one: **Connect the accounts once.** Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, whatever your buyers actually use. You do this on a Tuesday afternoon and then never again. If your tool makes you reconnect every few weeks, that is not a feature of social media, that is a bad tool. **Write the caption once, in one box.** Upload the file once. Tick the platforms you want it on. **Choose now or choose later.** Later is the one that matters. Sitting down on a Sunday and loading four weeks of posts is the difference between a page that looks alive and a page whose last post is from March. Nobody checks whether you posted at 9am on a Thursday. Everybody notices a page that went quiet. ## The part most posts about this leave out Same video everywhere is a compromise, and you should know you are making it. A vertical clip cropped onto LinkedIn looks like a vertical clip cropped onto LinkedIn. A caption that works on Instagram reads a little loose in a feed of consultants. You will get a slightly worse post on three platforms in exchange for actually posting on four. Take that trade. A slightly-off post that exists beats a perfect one you did not make. When something starts working on one platform, go back and cut a version properly for that one. Optimise the winner, not the whole schedule. The other limit: this saves you the posting, not the making. If you have nothing to say, a scheduler distributes nothing to more places, faster. It does not fix an empty pipeline either. Consistent posting is how people who already know you remember you exist. That is worth real money and it is not the same as lead generation. ## What changes on your side You record when you have something to say, in the car, after the closing, in one take. Then it goes up in one pass, to everywhere, including the Sunday-afternoon batch that covers the weeks you are too busy to think about it. The video still takes eleven minutes. The hour goes away.
